Born in 2020, unknown – untitled is one of the most distinctive concept labels to emerge from the UK’s underground club scene in recent years – a label and artist project shaped by anonymity and a clear ethos: the music comes first.
Each release is promoted without artist names or track titles. Previews are shared anonymously, with full IDs revealed only inside the physical record sleeve – a nod to those buying vinyl first. Digital releases follow, with credits listed in the usual way.
Run by the artist also known as unknown – untitled, the label has quietly built an influential catalogue spanning techno, breakbeat, garage and bass. Contributions have come from household names including dBridge, Hodge, Blu:sh, Ciel, Tristan Arp, Piezo, Son Of Philip, Atrice, Cameo Blush, LUXE, Syz, Adam Curtain, DJ JM, French II, Bastian Benjamin and Alberta Balsam – alongside original material from the label head.
What began as an experiment has evolved into a cult label and touring entity. Over the past two years, unknown – untitled has hosted and headlined sold-out shows across London, Manchester, Bristol, Barcelona and Edinburgh – at venues such as M.O.T, Soup, The Love Inn, Sneaky Pete’s and LAUT. Both Love Inn shows sold out weeks in advance. Carefully curated lineups have featured sets with the likes of Lukas Wigflex and Mor Elian, as well as back-to-backs with Ciel – all while preserving the project’s signature sense of mystery through unannounced lineups.
Now four years in, unknown – untitled continues to carve its own path – cultivating a sound, identity and community that let the records speak for themselves.
